NMMA picked its leaders for the next two years this week, and it picked a new market to grow in.

Yamaha, meanwhile, is spending real money to keep outboards moving through Monday, December 14, 2026.

Our take: the fine print on that offer matters more to dealers than the headline number.

What actually happened

NMMA names Aine Denari chair and launches a Dallas show

In a release dated Friday, October 9, 2026, the National Marine Manufacturers Association named Aine Denari chair of its board for the 2027-2028 term. Denari is the incoming CEO of Brunswick.

Tommy Hancock of Sportsman Boats is vice chair. Ben Duke of Polaris Marine is treasurer. Craig Clawson of Magic Tilt Trailers is secretary, and Yamaha's Ben Speciale becomes past chair.

Denari named three priorities: growing participation, protecting access and advancing an advocacy agenda.

On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, NMMA announced the Discover Boating DTX Boat Show. It debuts March 18 to 21, 2027, at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, and NMMA has leased 300,000 square feet there through 2029.

NMMA says Texas ranks third in the country for boating spending, with more than 625,000 registered boats. Dallas-Fort Worth has about 179,000 of them.

MarineMax Dallas, One Water Marine and Waterview Marinas all backed the show in NMMA's announcement.

Yamaha's Power Into Fall puts up to $600 behind new outboards

Yamaha's Power Into Fall runs from Monday, October 12 through Monday, December 14, 2026.

On new four-strokes from 30 to 350 horsepower, buyers get three years of Yamaha Extended Service on top of the three-year limited warranty. That's six years in total. The 425 and 450 get two years of extended service on a five-year warranty, seven years in total.

Dealer credit is based on MSRP and goes toward other goods and services: up to $600 on 150 to 175 hp, up to $400 on the 115, up to $300 on 60 to 90, up to $500 on the 25, up to $300 on 15 to 20 and up to $200 on 2.5 to 9.9.

There's no dealer credit on 200 hp and up, or on 30 to 50 hp. A Siren subscription activation adds $500 toward Siren accessories.

Motors must be new, never warranty registered and built since January 2019. They must be sold to US buyers by US dealers, not for commercial, rental or demo use, and the offer can't be combined with most other Yamaha offers.

Yamaha brings joystick docking to single-outboard pontoons

Announced Tuesday, October 13, 2026, DockPoint Pontoon pairs Yamaha's Helm Master EX joystick with a Jet Thruster from Holland Marine Parts on single-outboard pontoons.

It's recommended for 24 to 30 foot boats with 150 to 450 hp Yamahas on digital electronic controls. Builders get it in 2027 for select 2028 model year pontoons.

Regulator adds two Florida dealers

On Wednesday, September 30, 2026, Regulator Marine added The Ships Chandler in Destin and Sand N Sea Marine in Stuart.

Denison Yachting names Patrick Coote president

Coote takes over as president after OceanWorld Group became Denison's majority shareholder. CEO Bryan Braley continues.

The company plans to grow in the US, expand in Europe and the Gulf states, and pursue a targeted acquisition program.

Crews pulled two more abandoned boats out of Louisiana's Terrebonne Basin

On October 6 and 7, 2026, crews pulled two more abandoned boats out of the Terrebonne Basin, part of the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary.

This BoatUS Foundation-funded project is aiming for about 75 boats and has pulled nearly 50. BoatUS has said the average removal runs more than $24,000.

Michael Moore, a program manager at the BoatUS Foundation, put it this way: "Every boat we pulled out means safer passage and cleaner waterways."

New Jersey State Police are the newest partner on the BoatUS database that tracks abandoned boats.

Why this matters for your shop

Our take: the January 2019 build date is the line a dealer should circle.

An eligible motor that's been sitting in stock can still qualify, as long as it's sold and registered by Monday, December 14, 2026. Credit spent in your store stays in your store.

And six years of coverage gives that owner six years of reasons to come back to a Yamaha service department.

For anyone selling or servicing boats in North Texas, the DTX show is a new spring date that didn't exist before.

DockPoint means joystick and thruster systems will start showing up on pontoons, not just on big twin-engine boats.

Brunswick reports third quarter results on Thursday, October 29, 2026, before the market opens. Our take: that's the next number to watch.

This issue is brought to you by Marine Diagnostic Tools.

MDT puts dealer-level Jaltest Marine diagnostics in the hands of independent marine repair shops. Full-system coverage across the engine brands already sitting on your lift, so you stop turning away work because the software says no.

Kits come with in-house financing over a 36-month term, and training is included. Never guess a marine engine issue again.

Three things to do this week

1. Match your in-stock Yamahas to the credit tiers

If you're a Yamaha dealer, pull a list of eligible outboards in stock built since January 2019 and match them to the credit tiers before Monday, December 14, 2026.

2. Put the Dallas dates on the calendar

If you're in North Texas, put March 18 to 21, 2027 on the calendar.

3. Get your techs ready for Helm Master EX on pontoons

If you rig or service pontoons, get your techs familiar with Helm Master EX before DockPoint boats arrive in the 2028 model year.
